On January 29-30, 2018, the first meeting of the joint work group on pipeline transport was held in the head office of Sonatrach TRC, an Algerian government-owned oil and gas company, in Algiers as part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Transneft and Sonatrach.
The meeting participants discussed cooperation between the two companies and outlined preliminary implementation deadlines. The main spheres of joint operations include improving the reliability of Sonatrach’s pipeline systems by conducting, among other things, in-line inspections and improving lightning protection systems.
Sonatrach is engaged in oil and gas exploration, production, transportation, processing and sale. The company operates over 20,000 km of trunk pipelines and owns petrochemical production facilities, water desalination facilities, 4 natural gas liquefaction facilities and 5 refineries.
Transneft and Sonatrach signed the Memorandum of Cooperation during the meeting between Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia in October 2017.
