Pipeline Transport Institute and Russian Academy of Sciences Discuss Cooperation Prospects

The Pipeline Transport Institute has held a meeting with representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), where they discussed promising areas of cooperation in the development of innovative projects in the field of oil and petroleum products pipeline transportation.

The event was organised on the initiative of Transneft. Representatives of A.V. Topchiev Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis, RAS and A.N. Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, RAS got acquainted with the structure, main activities and equipment of the PTI.

During the meeting, A.E. Soschenko, Head of the Directorate of Innovative Development and Research and Development Activities of Transneft, Doctor of Technical Sciences, determined the main directions of scientific cooperation development between organisations. It was noted that promising areas of cooperation involve research in the field of materials and coatings, including innovative projects in the field of nanostructured, self-healing and smart coatings.

Also scientists of the RAS are interested in the potential of the laboratory and test base and unique test bench equipment of the PTI, which can be in demand by specialised institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

As a result of the event, it was proposed to consider the question of the entry of representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences into the Scientific Council of the PTI, in order to further develop the research potential in promising R&D areas.
