The team of PTI (The Pipeline Transport Institute) has won the 1st prize at an international competition of scientific, technical and innovative developments for the development of the fuel, energy and extractive industries (FES-2018).
Starting from 2012, the competition has been held annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. The results of the competition were announced at the 6th Russian International Energy Forum held in Saint Petersburg.
The project PTI submitted for the competition was on Development of a System for Continuous Monitoring of Oil and Petroleum Products Hydrocarbon Vapour Concentration to Improve Safety of Hot and Gas Hazardous Works at FES Facilities.
“The results of this development project, technical solutions and requirements for portable and stand-alone gas analysers and the continuous air monitoring system created on their basis enable to drastically improve safety of the personnel performing hot and gas hazardous works at FES facilities,” noted Sergei Polovkov, Head of PTI’s Directorate for Industrial Safety, Occupational Safety and Environment.
The purpose of the FES-2018 competition is to contribute to innovative development of the fuel, energy and extractive industries as well as to develop human resources. This year, 188 projects from 79 companies of the oil and gas, coal, peat, energy and mining industries were submitted for the competition.
