On 29 March 2018, PTI Transneft held the last of the three online seminars for the entities of the Transneft system on intellectual property. The seminars were part of the cooperation agreement between PTI Transneft and Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS).

More than a hundred employees of Transneft, PTI Transneft and Transneft entities, responsible for intellectual property management in their companies, took part in the seminars during March, both distantly and in person.

The seminars were conducted by the FIPS experts and heads of its business units, who demonstrated the practical opportunities of using databases, e-catalogues and other information services of FIPS for patent and information search, also showing the algorithms and the specifics of submitting electronic applications for inventions and useful models.

“The seminar introduced me to the FIPS database search subtleties that were unfamiliar to me. Such events are definitely needed and useful for self-education and professional development,” says the seminar attendee, Stanislav Zozulya, Chief Researcher of Mechanical Process Equipment Laboratory at PTI Transneft.

Three master classes on relevant issues of copyright and patent law as well as the prospects of using patent landscapes are scheduled for the 1st half of 2018. The events are initiated by Transneft to sharpen the skills of employees of Transneft entities in the field of intellectual property. The seminars and master classes are conducted by PTI Transneft as the information and analytics centre on intellectual property of Transneft.
